We manufacture aluminum oxide ceramic tubes according to customer requirements in different degrees of purity. Tube inner and outer diameters can be ground to a high degree of dimensional accuracy on request.
Stock alumina Al2O3 ceramic tubes in standard dimensions can be cut to your desired length and delivered promptly.
For the production of Al2O3 tubes, a mold is required in which the aluminum oxide powder is pressed into a green body. The aim of the formation is to achieve a particle density that is as homogeneous as possible, which is crucial for the strength of the final component. An organic binder is often added to the Al2O3 for shaping. The result is a sintered green compact that can be mechanically processed well. The green part is finally sintered at high temperatures, resulting in a 10% - 25% shrinkage of the part.
Dry and wet pressing of Al2O3 tubes
Alumina Al2O3 ceramic tubes can be made by dry and wet pressing. Wet pressing is used for components that have a complicated geometry. Dry pressing, on the other hand, is often sufficient for the production of simple components. Depending on the geometry and wall thickness, aluminum oxide tubes can be produced by both processes.
Isostatic pressing of Al2O3 tubes
When aluminum oxide tubes are pressed isostatically, pressure is applied to the component from all sides. This achieves a homogeneous compression of the green body. This method is particularly suitable if the green part is to be mechanically processed after shaping.
